Summer Weekend in the Colorado Rockies
We flew to Denver to visit Nik.
After stints working in San Francisco for a year and Texas for another year, he relocated to Denver and finds it more to his liking. He's an avid motorcyclist, mountain biker, hiker, camper and snowboarder, so the Colorado Rockies are an ideal place for him to be near.
He was eager to show us around his new hometown, and on the weekend treated us to an excursion of outdoor activities in and around the resort town of Crested Butte.
Taking in the view from an alpine pass at 11,300 ft., with Mt. Baldy behind us.
The mountains are teeming with gorgeous Columbine flowers.
Leisurely trail ride outside the town of Crested Butte.
The town of Crested Butte and the resorts of nearby Mt. Crested Butte are connected by a nicely paved bicycle path.
Lucy hiked all the way to the top of Mt. Evans, one of the highest peaks in the Colorado Rockies.
Okay, she only had to hike from the parking lot. But with the thin air at 14,264 ft. elevation, it's still an exhausting climb.
