Whitney Signs National Letter-of-Intent

On Wednesday, February 4th, Whitney formalized her college decision by signing her Letter-of-Intent to attend Oregon State University in the Fall of 2004.

After visiting over a dozen other schools and meeting a lot of coaches, it was the OSU program that caught her fancy. She visited the Corvallis, Oregon, campus a couple times and concluded the university also had the most to offer her academically. She is looking forward to playing at the collegiate level and is excited to be joining the Beavers.

Be sure to read the university's press release at the Oregon State Beavers website.

In high school soccer, Whitney was the leading scorer and All-League Offensive MVP in the Diablo-Foothill Athletic League in the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons. (The 2003-2004 season is still underway.) In 2003 she was also named to the "All-Times Team" by the Contra Costa Times, a local newspaper.

She has been a member of the Cal-North State Team for the last four years, and a member of the Region-IV (western US) Team for three years. Both of these teams are under US Youth Soccer's Olympic Development Program (ODP).

Now that she has made her decision, she can't wait to get there and get started. But there are a few loose ends to tie up first -- like the high school soccer season currently underway, finishing the club soccer season (State Cup tournament still to go), and waiting for the clock to tick down the final few months of her last semester of high school.
